Breast tumor removal

It is a surgical procedure aimed at removing cancerous or benign tumors from the breast. The procedure varies depending on the size and extent of the tumor.

🔹 Types of breast lumpectomy:

1. Lumpectomy
✓ The tumor is removed along with a small portion of the surrounding tissue.
✓ It is used in cases where the tumor is small and has not spread.
✓ It is often followed by radiation therapy to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.

2. Partial Mastectomy
✓ A larger portion of the breast is removed compared to a simple mastectomy.
✓ It is used for medium-sized tumors while preserving some breast tissue.

3. Mastectomy
✓ The entire breast is removed in cases of large tumors or widespread metastasis.
✓ It can be performed with or without removal of the underarm lymph nodes, depending on the extent of the tumor's spread.

4️⃣ Radical Mastectomy
✔️ The entire breast is removed, along with the lymph nodes and pectoral muscles.
✔️ It is rarely used today, except in very advanced cases.

🔹 Post-Surgery:
✔️ Breast reconstruction can be performed using cosmetic techniques or silicone implants.
✔️ The doctor determines the need for radiation or chemotherapy after surgery.
✔️ Regular follow-up is required to detect any tumor recurrence early.

The primary goal is to cure the disease while maintaining the patient's best quality of life.
